T-Neer was opened on June 2, 2014 at 142 W Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre, CA 91024. The inspiration for the creation of T-Neer came from the founder of T-Neer, Aruna’s mother, paternal grandfather and great grandfather, who worked, owned, and lived in a tea estate and her maternal grandfather, who had a tea room in a small town in Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon.
The journey of T-Neer started in Aruna’s own home back in 1977 when she was helping her mother in brewing afternoon tea for the first time at the age of eight. Since then, for many years she took over her mother’s duty to prepare tea at home with great passion, and this was her first realization that one day her destination was to open her own tea room.
She got married at the age of 23 to a diplomat, and had been travelling to different countries, and meeting with people from different cultures while attending tea expos promoting Ceylon tea. This experience allowed her and inspired her to continue researching the different types of tea. It soon became her second realization to open a tea room and her destiny led her to the U.S. to open T-Neer.
Today, from Aruna’s dedication, determination and forte, T-Neer serves as a wonderful addition to the tea rooms in the world. With the help from her husband, who let her to follow her dreams, and her two children, who helped her through the process of starting the tea room, as well as her parents who brought her to where she is today, and both her siblings who gave her moral and strong support to open the tea room.
T-Neer is dedicated in memory of Aruna’s grand parents.
